SYNERGY’s mentor orientation meeting will take place on September 8th at 7:00PM in Furman 114. Come by and learn about SYNERGY and meet all of the cool people involved. Oh and there will be free pizza, so bring  a buddy or three!

Continuing Education Seminar II

Monday, November 16th at 7pm we will be holding our next continuing education seminar of the year! Professor Gilman Whiting will be coming to speak about African-American culture and mentoring.

Dr. Whiting is the assistant professor and director of undergraduate studies in African-American Diaspora Studies and the director of the Scholar Identity Institute. His research includes work in education reform and with low-income minorities.

The meeting is REQUIRED for all members! I know everyone has a busy week next week but please try to attend this meeting.

FREE PIZZA will be provided for everyone so please email Jessica Torelli if you cannot attend!

The meeting is Monday, November 16th at 7pm in Buttrick 222.

New Site

Starting after Fall Break on Thursday, October 29th, we’re going to have another K-8 site at Mt. Hopewell Church.  The site will run from 5:30-7:00 every Thursday with the same kids from the Tuesday site at North Branch Library.  If you would like to switch please email jessica.ji@vanderbilt.edu, or if you haven’t signed up yet, you still can!





Continuing Education Seminar

Wednesday, October 7th at 5pm we will be holding our first continuing education seminar of the year! Professor Donna Ford will be coming to speak about mentoring high poverty youth.

Dr. Ford researches gifted education with an emphasis on minority children and youth, underachievement amount diverse students, multicultural education, and issues in urban education. Her lecture is intended to help everyone have a greater understanding of our mentee population and learn more effective ways to help the kids we work with.

FREE PIZZA will be provided for everyone!

The meeting is Wednesday, October 7th at 5pm in Stevenson 1206.
