About Us

SYNERGY is an undergraduate organization that provides the skills and resources to empower K-12 students to successfully complete high school and advance to college by means of developing one-on-one relationships with consistent college mentors.

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade focus on tutoring and academic enrichment during one-hour weekly meetings. Students in high school participate in two-hour weekly meetings that focus around networking, college preparatory and career exploration activities. All SYNERGY sites create a network of support to keep students motivated and synergized!

Founded by Ingram Scholar Stacy Tolos (Vanderbilt ’06), SYNERGY began as a mentoring organization for high school students in the fall of 2004. In the fall of 2008, SYNERGY merged with the LOOP, an after-school program for elementary and middle school students focused on mentoring and tutoring, to create a comprehensive service for all students in the communities that SYNERGY serves.

Both SYNERGY and the LOOP are funded through Vanderbilt University.
